Greyhole stuck in a loop?
Apologies for the long winded explanation, but I need to give a little background before I start with my issue: I am currently migrating from Amahi on FC14 to Amahi 7. I am moving to a new machine, which does not have a optical drive, so I installed fedora 19 first before I installed Amahi. My old s...

Re: HP N40L?
The N40L meets all the requirements except that it doesn't come with a CD/DVD drive so you would either have to buy a CD/DVD drive and install it, or attempt a USB install of Amahi (which is not supported).

Re: HP N40L?
The HP N40L has VGA out, and a review I read said that FreeNAS worked very well out of the box, so I think both Fedora and Ubuntu should work just as well.

Re: HP N40L?
I don't have experience with any with using the HP N40L....yet, though I'm considering replacing my current "server" a Dell Inspiron laptop with one. I have seen a couple of HP N36L servers (the N40L's predecessor) on the "show us your server" post, so it should work! If you do e...

Re: Open VPN Question
From what I'm reading on the wiki pages, it sounds to me like IPsec VPN would be a better fit as a VPN that would protect internet traffic when using an open Wifi hotspot. Is that a correct assumption?

Open VPN Question
My HDA is running on Fedora 14, and the VPN works properly when it comes to having access to my home network and the HDA itself. However, as far as web browsing behavior is concerned, I don't see my web traffic being routed through the VPN tunnel. When I compare a traceroute both with and without be...

Airprint functionality on Amahi
So I've been toying around with trying to print from my iOS devices to the shared printer on my HDA. I followed some of the instructions found on the internet at sites like these: http://www.micromux.com/2010/11/22/airprint-for-mac-on-linux/ http://turnix64.blogspot.com/2011/04/airprint-for-ipad-and...

Re: Windows 7 backup
dpet, I'm pretty certain that if you are running WHS, you get a client program that runs on the PC that will allow your PC to backup to the WHS server over the network (even for home premium). If I remember correctly, once that client program is installed, you can manage all your Windows PC backups ...

Re: Windows 7 backup
mag8tuga, You can use Crashplan to backup your Windows machines to your Amahi HDA. I've been using it for the last few months with no issue. I haven't had a need to restore a file yet my Windows machine so I can't speak to that part of it, but the backups are working as scheduled, and you don't even...

Re: Crowd financing cures pain of afp/Time Machine integrati
I too run a heterogenous environment at home. Would love to have Time Machine functionality on my HDA. Would gladly pay to have this feature on the HDA. However, I suspect the issue would be complicated by the fact that Time Machine is a moving target. Based on how many articles I've read about how ...
