Re: How do you "gracefully" clear Greyhole (tombstones, etc)

Hi gboudreau, thanks for this! I ran du before doing anything, and there was minimal usage (bytes!). I then deselected all drives from the pool, deleted the gh and lost+found directories, re-checked them in the pool and then ran du again. Not much difference (less bytes because lost+found didn't get...

I *should* add that it's the "Storage - Partitions" page that reports each drive as using up about 195Mb:

How do you "gracefully" clear Greyhole (tombstones, etc)?

Hi all, I've been playing about with the storage pool, to get used to how Greyhole stores everything before committing to moving all my files over to it. Now that I'm ready, I still can't seem to clear everything in Greyhole. Initially, I deleted everything from the Shares and wondered why the space...

Re: No HDA on WiFi ?

t800, I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems still. I myself currently use 2 routers in a way I described. Maybe if I give a bit more info about my setup, it may help?? Router1, that connects to the internet, has got it's IP address set as xxx.xxx.xxx.1. DHCP is disabled. This router also has...

Re: /greyhole/tasks' is marked as crashed and should be repa

I rebooted the server before I got your latest response and can't even get past the boot-up screen now. Getting an error message re GNOME power manager not being installed correctly and needing to ask the admin. Ralf, this *may* or may *not* help (because your error message is different to what I g...

Re: /greyhole/tasks' is marked as crashed and should be repa

Wow! Mine took about an hour to fix, but then I don't have many files on there yet (about 175Gb, duplicated). How much data have *you* got copied over? If you have considerably more data, maybe it might be better to let the fix run a bit longer? Have you run out of disk space on the LV, like me? If ...

Re: /greyhole/tasks' is marked as crashed and should be repa

Thanks again, gboudreau. I'd already found the first link, but the 2nd link you posted help confirm what I'd read. Would I be right in guessing that, if the end result you want is to copy a set of files for a share on both disk1 and and disk2, by selecting disk1 as the LZ will actually speed up the ...

Re: /greyhole/tasks' is marked as crashed and should be repa

The files with an arrow are not actual files, they are symbolic links. Those will always be there, as they are what allows Samba to show files in your shares. Those links are very small, and having them on your / partition costs almost nothing. So files that are moved into the pool are not using sp...

Re: /greyhole/tasks' is marked as crashed and should be repa

It seems to me that it is a dangerous design to have the landing zone on /. This virtually guarantees problems when there is not enough space to hold uploaded files. I would think that it would be better if the default landing zone were located somewhere else (seperate partition maybe?). I think ra...

Re: VNC with Windows

Why can't I connect in Windows?? :?
Personally, I couldn't get Method 1 to work properly either, so I went for Method 2, and all is OK.

Maybe try that, and if not, let us know and I'll compare notes with you??
