i don't think it does either, unless the person is using it as a desktop too..... it's certainly good for installing and uninstalling, configuring etc but the one thing it needs is...... locked down! imagine coming home to find the kids have stumbled across it and deleted your shares!! how about an ...

is there any harm in updating the apps manually through the terminal?
ie squeezebox server is now at 7.4 but the packaged amahi is at 7.3.2.
so if i uninstalled the amahi app, installed manually and then installed the amahi app later when it reached the same version, would it cause any issues?

i can understand your sentiments about a more friendly os (WHS?). trust me, it isn't a patch on amahi. windows has its place, on desktops, exchange/outlook is good with activesync, IAS hasn't had a vulnerability to date whereas cisco's have etc amahi is in it's infancy and will grow and i'm sure it ...

that's probably one of the hardest concepts for windows users to grasp. you could be looking at a folder that has 500gb of space (sda1) while 10 other folders have 500gb between them (sda2)

[root@hda ~]# rpm -q hdactl
hdactl-2.44-1.x86_64
[root@hda ~]# rpm -q hda-platform
hda-platform-4.1-1.noarch
don't forget the above is after after i manually removed hdactl-2.43-1.i386 after i got the initial errors
[root@hda ~]# uname -r
2.6.27.30-170.2.82.fc10.x86_64
[root@hda ~]# rpm -q hdactl
hdactl-2.44-1.x86_64
[root@hda ~]# rpm -q hda-platform
hda-platform-4.1-1.noarch

adito will work for you (albeit maybe not exactly what you are after) i have used it for years in both directions. if you can browse the web via ssl, adito will let you run any app you have. i'm sure ampache would work for you too. but like you say, each to their own and orb is probably good. it's m...
