Re: Introducion for me and my system
I finished the basic setup last night adding the second 2TB drive after moving all of the files from it to the new system. I wanted to move the files because the old drive was in NTFS format and I wanted the new system to use Linux native format, so I copied all the files over the network. It's abou...

Re: Problem with new install
After much experimenting, it turns out that I was making it harder that it has to be. Mostly it seems to go away if you reboot. Sometimes you have to reboot a couple of times. Once greyhole picks up a file from the directory the first time it seems to continue to service it. So, I have just been che...

Ok, today I did this: Changed the workgroup name back to workgroup from asap. Removed the large backup file. Deleted the backup directory and the test directory that had the problem. BTW: deleting the backups share did not delete the /var/hda/files/backups directory and I had to do it by hand. reboo...

Re: Problem with new install
Ok, I reset all the permissions and made sure they were right. No change, the problem still was there. I had decided to change some things for other reasons and so I decided to reinstall. All went well, I reinstalled, mounted the landing zone disk at /var/hda/files (saving are restoring all that was...

I am using VirtualBox running on top of Ubuntu Sever.
When I get it done, I'll do some photos.

Re: Multiple installs and server names
In the end I had to change the domain name, which means a reinstall anyway, so I just did it over.
The process of deleting an old server and adding a new one worked very well.

Re: How do I reduce redundancy and eliminate extra file copi
What was the outcome? I am interested because I have not determined the number of copies I want to keep of each kind of file.

I will try that tonight when I get home. I have posted more about the system in an intro message in the general discussions forum.

Introducion for me and my system
I thought it would be interesting to introduce myself and my system. If this is not the right place to do that or if no one cares, feel free to delete or ignore this. This was brought on by Bigfoot65 saying that something I had done was needlessly complicated, and since I have often been accused of ...
