Re: Just getting started with Amahi - first question - using

You need a kernel that supports ZFS in order for it to work on a zfs files system. Linux due to zfs licensing conflicts doesn't support ZFS as the host filesystem. zfs-fuse allows linux to interact with it as seperate drives mounted to linux. I'm looking at creating a nexentastor storage appliance w...

Re: Amahi Drive planning

amahi shares and does everything out of the /var/hda/files directory so it should look more like this: 8GB swap 42 GB "/" root 50 GB "/home" -> keep program configurations, xbmc databases and other stuff in case of upgrading OS 400 GB "/var/hda/files/media/backup" -> backup space Greyhole: 100 GB "/...

Re: Sharing via NFS in addition to SMB?

I believe NFS should be fine as long as they are using different ports to share files on. Windows doesn't play very nice with NFS but linux is easy to setup NFS server and clients.

Re: Timemachine backups with Amahi

ok, it's been working for a couple of weeks now for me. Not sure what fixed the issue, but I installed my amahi server from the express cd and never did an update to the OS. I ran yum upgrade and after all the updates and a reboot for the new kernel it started working and is reporting the correct st...

Re: Timemachine backups with Amahi

Does the account your using on amahi for the time machine connection have permissions to write to that directory. Do an "ls -l /path/to/your/folder".

Re: Timemachine backups with Amahi

Ok, some clues here, but not quite what I was expecting! In particular, it claims to have started the avahi loop and registered the services and then some 90 mins later, says it has failed to contact the server. Could you edit /etc/netatalk/afpd.conf and change from logging from log_info to log_max...

Re: Timemachine backups with Amahi

Network is a simple setup. Default install with the express CD of amahi. The only thing I did edit was the netatalk file to limit the HDD space for time machine, and did it according to the wikki. I tried uninstalling the amahi time machine and when reinstalled, it showed up on the laptop. After I r...

Recycle bin errors

I have a windows 7 laptop and I moved the folders matching my shares to the HDA in my documents. Such as my music on win7 now points to \\hda\music etc... I constantly get errors that the recycle bin on the shares are corrupt for each share. I get the errors everytime I log in and everytime I try to...

Re: Timemachine backups with Amahi

I installed the app on my HDA and my wifes laptop is running OSX Snow Leopard. When I try to enable time machine her laptop doesn't see the time machine server. Is there something with user accounts on the client and server having to match or firewall issues that need ports open on either client or ...
