Re: Deleting symlinks from Samba share does not delete file
There has been an odd development here. I stepped away from this for a couple of days to take care of some other things. Well, I glance in my TV share and notice a couple of the zombie folders are actually still gone. This was great news, but baffling. My first assumption was that the --fsck was st...

Re: Crashplan Questions
i should be able to just add a share by the same name in the HDA....right?It does not create a share. That was left for users to decide. Also not sure if Greyhole works well with CrashPlan or not. I know Greyhole does not play nicely with Amahi Sync.

Crashplan Questions
I just started playing with Crashplan.
I notice it creates a folder in /var/hda/files but not a samba share?
Should it have? I want Greyhole to manage it because it is filling up my landing zone.

I read that it should be outside of greyhole For me Greyho...

Re: After broadband downtime, Amahi has DNS issues
II tried to test this out last night, but stopping DHCP on the Amahi box and temporarily setting the router to control DHCP, but for some reason the Amahi box starts up DHCP again on it's own! Also, on machines that allow for manually "Renewing the Lease" on WiFi connections (e.g. any iOS...

Re: How to remap/remount drives for better configuration
The configuration you describe is the correct way of doing it.
Think of the "parent" as the landing zone for greyhole. This is where all the symlinks for your files reside. The drives mounted under drives are the copies of those files represented by the symlinks.

Re: Changing Amahi's DNS
i find OpenDNS to be unreliable at times. I have less issues with GoogleDNS also.....i find using webmin to change DNS to be far simpler. i can also edit DHCP to give alternate DNS servers. I have DHCP set to give: 192.168.1.5 HDA 192.168.1.1 router - uses ISP DNS 8.8.8.8 Google 8.8.4.4 Google Cisc...

Re: home.com
i dont use the HDA Connect for VPN. i use a Cisco client. The Cisco client allows for "split tunneling", i dont think the HDA Client does. What this means is that, while connected to the VPN, using split tunneling, my laptop will use my internet connection as a default before the VPN inter...

Re: home.com
I am not sure i would call it a bug. I am just saying that home.com, for instance is a real internet domain. It is unlikely anyone would want to get to it but it is a real domain nonetheless. If i were connected via VPN and wanted to connect to a device on my network at home...let's say my myth tv s...

Re: What happens if my OS drive fails?
MyCloud.....very nice detailed answer. I will offer a much simpler one. I have done this a couple times due to my habit of tinkering and then having to rebuild. Rebuild the OS install and Amahi with Greyhole shares/landing zone. Make sure the shares are the same as before I simply added the drives b...
