Re: Instructions incomplete for Ubuntu 12.04
here's no mention of whether we should choose 32-bit or 64-bit ISOs. Your choice here, but I would recommend 64-bit if your machine can run it. Also, it mentions a problem with newer revisions of 12.04, and to use 12.04.2. Is it safe to patch the system AFTER Amahi is installed and configured, or d...

Instructions incomplete for Ubuntu 12.04
In the instructions found here: http://docs.amahi.org/ubuntu-12.html There's no mention of whether we should choose 32-bit or 64-bit ISOs. Also, it mentions a problem with newer revisions of 12.04, and to use 12.04.2. Is it safe to patch the system AFTER Amahi is installed and configured, or do we n...

Re: Access Owncloud from outside local network
Just in case anyone else was wondering, I answered my questions: 1.) Not as secure as a provider issuing the cert. 2.) Not safe, punches big hole in network. 3.) Yes, Cloudflare can be setup (I used a custom URL route, DynDNS + Namecheap for a URL, might be possible without). 4.) from everything I ...

Re: Anyone using CrashPlan?
So Crashplan is now easily installed as a part of Amahi. I don't need to back up other computers locally to it, but I would like to back up the server itself to another computer miles away. The question is, what directories on the Amahi server? /var/hda? I plan to use Greyhole eventually too; does t...

Re: Best way to change HDA's static DNS settings
I am an IT guy, so I'd like to think I'm fairly good at DNS. However I just ended up going back to Amahi for DNS; while I got everything to work fine with DNS re-directs on my firewall (Untangle) it's not really worth the effort. Easier to just disable DNS/DHCP there, and use Amahi. There's really n...

Best way to change HDA's static DNS settings
Hello, I have no desire to use Amahi's DNS or DHCP; I've got other servers already filling that function. As such, I have disabled both of those servers. However, I cannot change the network settings for the HDA. It wants to keep itself as the DNS server, which means it cannot connect to anything. T...

Allow for custom network settings at time of install
As well as multiple Amahi server installs. Right now I am trying to test and see how this will work at a satellite office setting, however right now I can only use the one activation code, which sets the network settings to my personal home network settings. Changing this is a pain in the butt. Ther...

Interesting read on Adito/OpenVPN ALS
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openvpn-als/forums/forum/824506/topic/3664547 According to this guy, Adito/OpenVPN ALS is no longer being worked on, and it has a couple security holes. He claims to work for OpenVPN Technologies. If it's true, that's unfortunate. I was hoping to use this solution, bu...
