Videos5: Can't seem to get it functioning correctly.
First off... KUDOS for finally releasing this one!! I've been waiting patiently and it's finally here. So... trying to get it to work: My hda files are not stored in the default location, they are located externally: /media/ELITE/movies Solution (in a terminal): mysql -uvideos5 -pvideos5 -e "up...

Re: Script to flush cache in ram?
Server-side I'm just opening files from the standard smb shares mounted on desktop thru OSX finder. Client-side is my Macbook, I'm using VLC 1.0.2 (Intel x64), Quicktime 10.0 (90.3.1). VMStat output: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- --system-- -----cpu----- r b swpd free buff ...

Script to flush cache in ram?
I've noticed that when I'm streaming videos over my wireless network that after a short period of time watching, and/or after transferring a large file from my hda, that the transfers slow significantly (ie., slow transfers or stalled video streaming). One thing that seems to solve the problem is cl...

Re: Amahi installed. worked. updated fedora. Rails Fail. wtf
It's been awhile since you posted so perhaps you found the solution?? If not: In the terminal copy/paste the following one line at a time and hit <enter>, type password when prompted: su - gem install -v=2.3.4 --no-ri --no-rdoc rails More info on the following threads: http://forums.amahi.org/viewto...

Re: Amahi crashed after Fedora udpate :(
Performed an upgrade myself today (with a little anxiety) due to kernel crashes... even though the system keeps functioning. I think the crashes might have to do with either 1)software raid 0, or 2)VNC config issues. Either way the upgrade went off w/out a hitch :) @ mehmetb and cpg: I grepped for a...

Re: rsync backup over home network via ssh
Yeah, I definitely think alot of people would find rsync useful, mainly due to the fact that it's so much more efficient due to only syncing the files in a directory that have changed; which saves a ton of time/bandwidth. AND AFAIK it's available for all platforms. I guess to be safe full (directory...

Re: rsync backup over home network via ssh
Well I went ahead and gave it a shot... the syntax above didn't work. But this did: rsync -avx --delete --progress -h -e ssh /Users/njtuneguy/Music/iTunes/ 192.168.1.10:/var/hda/files/Backups/iTunes/iTunes It turns out the username/hostname aren't necessary on a comp connected to the hda's network, ...

rsync backup over home network via ssh
I would like to do incremental backups over the home network, the source is a mac, the destination would be my hda's backup share location: /var/hda/files/Backups I found a page in the Ubuntu Community Documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/rsync#Using%20rsync%20with%20SSH%20for%20a%20Simpl...

Re: Is automatic login supposed to boot to a full gnome desktop?
Per the VNC startup issues I get boot messages at the login screen saying VNC failed because there is no display configured. Where is the display config file for VNC and how do I configure it?
