Re: Problems with share permissions
Right, think I've got this fixed. Used usermod -g users asher to add myself to the 'users' group. Then found that neither Greg nor I could access any files/folders. Tried changing the folder permissions again in Fedora GUI, these appeared to change, but neither we still couldn't access files. So, op...

Re: file sharing app??
Excellent idea. I used to back up our Win2003 server to unused client HDDs in the charity I worked for (we used Retrospect). Obviously you could do something like this with Clonezilla, but it wouldn't be automated and you'd have to power down the server. Having something that could be schedules woul...

Re: Problems with share permissions
First user created was 'asher'; second was 'greg' this was deleted in Amahi and another user created 'gregs' to see if this would solve the problem. These are the results from running id <username> uid=500(asher) gid=500(asher) groups=500(asher) uid=501(greg) gid=100(users) groups=100(users) uid=502...

Problems with share permissions
Hi, I've been reading through a number of similar problems on here, but none seem to be quite the same as what I'm experiencing, I'd really appreciate a few things I could try. I'm using Amahi 5 on Fedora 12. I set up two users and 2 custom shares. There seems to be a problem though that neither use...

Re: VNCserver not starting
Thanks for helping me again, moredruid. I've not got anywhere with this so far. This is what I did: 1. Logged in as root 2. Ran ls /etc/init.d/ 3. vncserver was listed (not vncdaemon) 4. Ran chkconfig <vncdaemon> --list 5. Got the response -bash: vncdaemon: No such file or directory 6. Tried chkconf...

VNCserver not starting
Hi, I want to run my server headless, so I just installed VNC according to the instructions here: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VNC I then told Fedora to not start X, according to these instructions: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora-setup-recommendation Everything seems to work fine, except ...

Re: Setting up Amahi within a shared office network
OK, new problem. I set {Router1} to 192.168.1.1 - as this is likely to be the setting of the router in the building I set {Router2} to 192.168.50.1 - the original settings of {Router1} when I set up with Amahi So now I can connect to the internet from both client and server, I can connect to http:/...

Re: Setting up Amahi within a shared office network
Thanks Lou1z and moredruid, sorry I didn't see your responses before posting the comment above. That makes sense about the subnets, should have thought of that, thanks. So, it's straightforward enough for me to change the settings on {router2}, but how do I change the settings in the {HDA} to tell i...
