Re: Standalone server

Thanks, Bigfoot. I understand the faq, but even this: "They will probably see the file server in the HDA, though it may only be accessible with an IP address, not a name". could be sidestepped using a static entry in the router. All my NAS features are accessible to all machines on the LAN without c...

Standalone server

Is it possible to mod Amahi just as a standalone server without the DNS, DHCP, etc? I can access "hda", and install apps without any change to my network, yet to access those apps isn't possible unless I rely on the built in DNS/DHCP. To access say, the gallery by typing hda://gallery instead of nee...

Wine

Is wine known to work on the Amahi setup? I was thinking of using it with the extremely useful Peerblock, http://www.peerblock.com/ plus some other useful win stuff.

Thanks

Re: What's the best distro for Amahi?

I like Ubuntu because I'm developing the Amahi platform for it. :D Anyways, Ubuntu has superior hardware support, and indeed a very lean server version. And their latest LTS release is just awesome. The only thing I don't really like is how complicated packaging proper Debian packages files is, wit...

Re: Fedora12 w/ Amahi install NOT Succeed! Can't get Amahi http

I encountered the same problem during installation. However when prompted to 'Enable network interface' I deselected the 'Use dynamic IP configuration (DHCP). It seems as if it was not picking up an IP address from router. U use Linksys WRT310N w/ ddrt v24 Why not choose WHS?? WHS isn't a patch on ...

Re: Install trouble!!

The port to Ubuntu is a very important one I think since it's been asked a lot. Also with RH6 being based on F12 we should have a CentOS/RH port quite easily which is great for a long term amahi release on a very stable platform, perhaps even a licensed version of amahi on a licensed platform for p...

Re: Fedora 12 won't install on my pc.

The initial setup still goes through the same operations, so I would say, you're out of luck.

You could try "acpi=0" at boot, but don't get your hopes up.
