Re: Linux Scanner Server
The biggest problem I had when trying to package this was that Fedora, for some reason, has pretty screwed-up default permissions on USB devices. If normal users can scan with scanimage, it generally works pretty well, although I didn't have the long name problem described here (since mine came up a...
Re: iCalendar
Seems to be working now - strange, but I think it was a network error on my end. Looks good!

Re: Ditching Windows Home Server and Moving to Amahi HDA Solutio
Are there any pitfalls or problems with regard to LVM and Amahi that I should be aware of before I do my fresh build - or is it a pretty straightforward process? Fedora 12 automatically sets up LVM, so it's really easy to start. The only pitfall is that if one of the drives falls out of the volume ...
Re: iCalendar

Re: PDC on Windows 7
In general - I haven't tried PDC yet.did you mean it works well so far in general?
iCalendar
I've tried installed this a couple of times, but just get a "Website not found" error every time. Webmin shows the site listed, and it all seems OK, but the alias never pulls up the site. Any thoughts on what to try? I'm using the 5.0 beta on F12. Thanks!

Re: Amahi 5.0 RC3 is out!
It seems to work well so far - I like it better than the 4.x release I tried before. The F12 breaks a couple of things - scanner server didn't work right for me, although that's not uncommon. It didn't set the permissions correctly on the scanner, so I'll have to fix it. :) The only bug I've found s...

Re: New Drive restore
There's also BackupPC (http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/). I'm just not sure how to package it for one-click install - Yum installs it to several directories (mostly under /usr/share). I don't know if making symlinks to the webapp dir would work? Bacula looks great for Amahi Pro, but seems like overk...

Re: Install Script
Yeah, that's a great idea (especially for what these apps need!), but it's a little beyond my abilities.
I've compromised on having the install script create a script that the user can then run. Not quite as elegant, but avoids the whole root permissions problem, and does what I need it to.

Install Script
Is there a way the install scripts can be made interactive? To install both of the programs I've packaged (HAMWeather and the Scanner Server), I need information from the user. The install scripts are set up to obtain that, but they're never shown. If that's not possible, is it possible to leave the...
