Re: SOLVED: Cannot see Amahi HDA on my network after Windows 10 update

I had a similar issue. I installed KDE GUI on top of the server and made it the default display so I could do things directly from the box. I needed to see the hostname hda so I could use Windows 10 to remote desktop to the Linux box hda. I could use Putty and connect with no problem but I wanted to...

Re: Amahi overwriting ifcfg-enp1s0 and smb.conf

Excellent - the workgroup box is checked off.
May I ask that for the next release a parameter be added for the DHCP_HOSTNAME?

Re: Changing ifcfg-ethx

This is a closed net system and needs no inbound access from outside the router once it is setup and running. I have other systems, including security cameras, that are mission critical and if a machine goes down, then everything breaks. The router is much more reliable so if it ain't broke, don't f...

Amahi overwriting ifcfg-enp1s0 and smb.conf

I'm running a Supermicro box and I configure the first Ethernet port (enp1so) to have DHCP_HOSTNAME="hda". I am using DHCP with a reserved address to the MAC layer address of the Ethernet port. I need the name in there so it will announce to my network who the box is and I can map to the d...

Changing ifcfg-ethx

I am trying to make a permanent change in ifcfg-ethx to include DHCP_HOSTNAME="myhostname" so when it requests an IP address from my reserved DHCP address, it announces it's hostname so my Windows clients can attach. When I change it, after reboot it reverts back to the initial setup. Is A...

Re: Amahi Plex Media Server and iTunes Playlists

I reset the permissions to admin and users. I also 777 the xml file. I've checked Plex forums but only found to put quotes around the file name with embedded spaces, which I did. I even tried loading Wine and iTunes but that didn't work - they installed without errors and I copied files to the Wine ...

Amahi Plex Media Server and iTunes Playlists

I finally got this PMS working under Fedora 21. I copied all my Windows music library over. I found the location as /var/hda/files/music. I changed my iTunes library.xml file to point to all music in the Linux location vice Windows i.e. file://var/hda/files/music/.... The music added under music but...

Re: Switching out Platforms and Installation

Thanks - I am moving to a much quieter, short-depth Supermicro server with a lot more storage. I've used Acronis to successfully reimage machines installing from like and unlike platforms but in this case I want all new hardware, especially with 6 and 8TB drives available. I was going to build from ...

Switching out Platforms and Installation

I setup Amahi 8 on a Dell 2950 server and tested out what I needed to evaluate. Now that I have a new machine I want to use as a permanent server, my plan is to take the 2950 offline, make the new machine the same hostname as the 2950 with the same IP address. I'm using DHCP/DNS off my router and as...
