even when adding the share without altering the etc/fstab file i get the error that the item cannot be found when clicking on the share in my finder......

Thanks for the response, i have managed to get a bit of time to sort this out so i ran through everything again this morning and i still get the same problem, once the line of text has been put into /etc/fstab, it will only boot in emergency mode. the line of text is - UUID=640B-0804 /var/hda/files/...

ok deleted the entry into /etc/fstab and it is now booting normally, but i am straight back to square one now, i'll keep doing some reading but after 5 hours trying to get it working, i am no nearer to being able to share my files......i'll keep reading and see what i can come up with.

Ok followed the guide to a T, couldn't get into etc/fstab but then had a read and saw that i needed to install nano to open the file. I then added the line where prompted at the bottom of the list in etc/fstab, saved it and the rebooted. I now just boot into emergency mode and nothing else, obviousl...
