Re: Replace Hard Drive With All Shares
Everything actually went pretty smooth with the hard drive swap. Unmounted the drive and removed the info. on it from /etc/fstab and the rest came along pretty well. Except for one thing (of course). On boot, I get the following error: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6 I realized this is linked t...

Re: Replace Hard Drive With All Shares
Ok, not using Greyhole makes it just as easy. If you don't have room for the extra drive, the other method will work. Using the hda-diskmount script, the drive will be mounted in /var/hda/files/drives.drive#. As long as both drives are mounted at the same time, no big deal. With them both mounted, ...

Re: Print to network printer over VPN
While connected to the network over VPN, I re-added the printer through the Windows wizard and for some reason it worked. It's been consistently working for a week or so. I'm not sure what the exact solution was but that worked for me.

Replace Hard Drive With All Shares
I have a simple setup (for now): 1 hard drive with the OS; 1 with ALL of my shares (partition /dev/sdb1; mount point: var/hda/files). I bought a new hard drive with more space and I'd like to replace the hard drive with all the files. My plans were: A) Backup data B) Power down server B) Remove old ...

Re: Print to network printer over VPN
Not sure. This one may require some research on the internet. How is the printer connected on your client, IP addrress or URL? If it's URL, then use the fully qualified name, i.e. printer.hda.net. I believe it would be considered via IP address. Yeah, I think I will have to do some research on this...

Re: Backup Strategy (Server + Computers on Network)
Good to hear this works for you. Would you consider documenting this in the wiki? Would be useful for others in the community. Sure, I'd be glad to. What specifically do you think would be beneficial to the community - using Macrium to create images of local PCs HDD to the server? And/or backing up...

SOLVED: Print to network printer over VPN
I have a printer on my network that I wirelessly print to from my laptop. I have the drivers installed on my laptop. So when I try to print to this printer from my laptop when connected through VPN (using openVPN) the print doesn't take place it just sits there in queue. Is it possible to do what I'...

Re: Backup Strategy (Server + Computers on Network)
I'm now using Crashplan to backup the HDA to one of of the PCs on the network and I use Macrium Reflect to backup (image) all the PCs on the network to the HDA. Works pretty well and I'm happy with it thus far!
