Remote start

I wonder if this is possible? For a while I was using the HDA just as remote file server and that what I'd like to do again (I just moved). However 2 things bothered me that I'm wondering if I can avoid. Firstly, I don't want to have to route all internet traffic through the computer. Secondly, whic...

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

Good news all around, it seems like everything is working fine.

So then the only thing I can ask is, do you have some "apps" to recommend?
Or useful things to do with this OS?

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

It helps a lot, thanks. So I disabled DHCP from the router, and this is the status: One of my roommmates laptops connects after a restart, using Windows. My other roommate didn't even have to reboot to keep network access. But on my Linux machine, a reboot and using the commands you linked me didn't...

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

Well, I'd like to use full functionality, so I'm going to attempt it once more.

So walk me through this.

1. disable dhcp
2. reboot HDA?
Does it matter when it's being done?

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

I'm hesitant to turn off the dhcp. The last two times I did that it took me 20 minutes each time in order to fix. Then I had to reinstall Amahi.

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

Nevermind! Turns out my roommate wasn't inputting the right ip address. They ARE able to connect to the HDA's IP address. So then do you know of anything else I need to do to finialize? Thanks again for the help! I have a hard drive here with tons of files that I want to share. Should I just turn of...

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

That's where the DHCP on the router gets disabled and you renew the IP address on all client machines. All computers connected to your network should have access. I'll have to try. But keep in mind this: I've done this twice, and both times it sent me into a network error tornado that takes 20+ min...

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

Well, there's some good news.
I reinstlled and did my best, and this is where I am:

Wireless is working for my home.
and I can access the HDA with it's IP address.

Horray!

However, my roommate can't access the HDA the same way.
Is there another guide that shows what to do after installation?

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l

Yes they are interchangeable. Have you tried the troubleshooting page at http://docs.amahi.org? This is Fedora 19 and a wired connection, correct? I don't know what else to suggest. We have pretty much went through the common solutions. Might require a reinstall if all else fails. I tried tha troub...
