cpg,
Thanks!
The simple approach worked just fine, I was obviously trying to over-complicate things.
All appears to be working just fine now.
Cheers
B.

Re: Web-Apps and a local database
Thanks for that. I stupidly spent ages setting up the databases, users, privileges, etc and I guess it's possible I made a mistake somewhere. You explanation of "hda-create-db-and-user" is much clearer than in the wiki (thanks!) so I will try that when I get home tonight. Will post and let...

Re: Video Media Players
let's see. what clients are you trying to use? if xbox - use ushare (i use this - works - except one bug where it does not see new files until it is restarted). if laptops, use the shares. i also use this and it's the "bread and butter" - it's like a NAS. if web browsers with flash there ...

Web-Apps and a local database
I have Amahi installed and running fine, so it's time for the next step. My wife has a small client database that I set up on a local stand alone machine. Its a simple 2 table MYSQL DB with a few simple php pages to manage it with. I followed a bouncing ball to create it to run from LOCALHOST and al...

Video Media Players
Has anyone had any luck using Amahi as a video/movie server? Both Ampache and Jinzora claim to be able to stream video but I just can't seem to make it work. I can't get Amapache to even find any video media, no matter where I put it. Jinzora gets a lot closer as in it can identify that I have video...

Re: Jinzora and PDA's
Skyfire and Iris were failures.
Bolt says it needs Windows Mobile 6, my PDA is running 5. Might have to see if microsoft have an updated version of IE for my PDA.
Thanks anyway guys

Re: Jinzora and PDA's
Peter, Thanks for that! Opera was able to connect and log onto the Jinzora service...but in a nice twist of irony, my PDA doesn't have enough memory to run Opera and receive a stream. Sigh.... At least now I know what the problem was....though I am no closer to a solution. I'm going to give Iris (ht...

Jinzora and PDA's
Hi All, Happy to report I have installed Amahi successfully and to date all the problems I have had have been user issues :-) This one has stumped me though. I have an HP IPAQ which I am trying to connect to Jinzora to listen to music. My IPAQ is connected to my home network via a WiFi connection an...
