Re: Need help with subinterfaces

I want to be able to have a more in depth view of all of the traffic going through my network and it's DNS inquiries. I have installed Pi-hole on my server, which serves as a DNS blackhole for malware, advertisements, etc. Roughly 10% of my DNS inquiries are blackholed, and I really don't go anyplac...

Re: Need help with subinterfaces

Anyone? I've spent the past two nights trying to get things back to status quo, but I'm honestly worried I'll loose my network services again if whatever script is running changes my network to the 192.168.2.x. range again. This subinterface issue definitely had unforeseen consequences. I really don...

Re: Need help with subinterfaces

Update: I rebooted the server, and it reverted again to the 192.168.2.x IP space. I again restored from my /etc-backup.tar file, restarted the network services, and it's running again on 192.168.1.x space. However, I logged into the HDA console, and it's showing 192.168.2.x reservations fo the vario...

Need help with subinterfaces

Good morning, I've been trying to get my Amahi server to hand out multiple DHCP ranges, for normal LAN traffic, and for IOT traffic. I know this is possible, however, some of Amahi's self-correcting mechanisms seem to be wreaking havoc on my system. Here's the situation. Through the Amahi control pa...

Re: DHCP configuration question

I did some playing around, and pi-hole can be installed along side Amahi. It does take some work, but since they are both dnsmasq based, they work alongside together without a whole lot of effort. I plan on documenting how I did it in a Wiki entry, once I work out a few more details. Heya, I'm look...

Is there a way to use DHCP tags for multiple VLANS?

Right now, on my network, my main VLAN for wired and wireless connections get their DHCP leases from Amahi. Since hda-ctl automatically reconfigures amahi-dhcp.conf if any changes are made, there doesn't seem to be a way to alter the dhcp-range line to include vlan tags, so I can add another DHCP VL...

Re: DHCP configuration question

Couldn’t that be done using OpenDNS without the extra layer of Pi-Hole? You can customize OpenDNS via their web site. Of course you’d need an account there. Actually, no. OpenDNS doesn't support ad-blocking. That's what Pi-Hole does beautifully. It sources from many different sources, and allows yo...

Re: DHCP configuration question

That option only partially works.

HDA --> Pi-Hole --> OpenDNS, does provide the DNS filtering, however, it doesn't provide the list of clients that are querying DNS
Pi-Hole --> HDA --> OpenDNS, provides that client list via upstream DNS queries.

That's the source of the problem.

Re: DHCP configuration question

I'm trying to do the same thing, but not having much luck. Did you come up with a solution? I think /etc/resolve.conf needs to change the nameserver IP to that of pi-hole, but hda-ctl reconfigures it after each restart of the service.
