No. A very large number of directories have the brackets and I have never had any trouble before.

I renamed a folder on my HDA using regular explorer on a Windows 7 machine. If you added the Greyhole repo, then it will autoupdate. By default Amahi does not use the Greyhole repo just for that reason.
