Re: Using files from previous Amahi setup
Looking at my partially disemboweled server this afternoon, it struck me that I may be making this harder than it needs to be. Why not: 1. Keep the current Fedora/Amahi setup just as it is on the original 2Tb drive, so as not to disturb anything 2. Set up the RAID 5 array on the three new 2Tb drives...

Re: Using files from previous Amahi setup
Thanks, Bigfoot, for the quick reply. It sounds like recreating the assigned DHCP list could be less hassle than extracting it from the old setup. As for the apps, I didn't have too many active, at least that I can recall. But just out of curiosity, is my app list somewhere in an online profile of m...

Using files from previous Amahi setup
I've had Amahi running for a few years and never have to think about it. It works. I'm happy. But I came close to running out of storage space for CrashPlan files, so it was clear that an upgrade was needed. I'm in the process of setting up a hardware RAID (new territory for me, but outside the scop...

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
Google voice uses a network connection to setup the call. It DOES NOT USE THE INTERNET TO COMPLETE THE CALL. It requires your carrier connection to be available. you should have GV setup to ask you if you want to use it, say no if you dont have a connection. Thanks for setting me straight. All this...

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
I have to admit defeat in getting the FEAT VPN / Google Voice combo to work while I was in Guatemala. And I don't think it was the fault of FEAT VPN, because I tested its VPN connection to my Amahi server using Steve Gibson's ShieldsUp; it reported that I was behind my home router. It was when I tri...

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
I wish I had the time! As I type and send this, I'm on a flight over the Gulf of Mexico, headed to Guatemala. This is the first of a four-trip marathon that won't end for five weeks.

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
Here's the e-mail sent to me by Thomas of FEAT VPN yesterday: Hi there, Thanks for your interest in FEAT VPN. Well, from amahi.org it seems that Amahi is built around OpenVPN. So, let's give this a try. Let's do the following for now: (1) Install the Lite version of FEAT VPN. (2) Run the self tests....

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
Thanks for the quick response. I heard from the folks at FEAT VPN quickly, too, used their suggested setup for Amahi, and it worked the first time. Mind you, no rooting, no modding. This is an unhacked Android (2.3) Samsung Galaxy S. And it worked with their "Lite" (i.e., free) product. Bu...

Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?
I'm leaving on an overseas trip in 36 hours and suddenly realized that though my laptop can VPN home, my Android phone isn't yet set up to do so. I know there are instructions on the Amahi site for doing this from a rooted/mod'ed phone, but messing with that stuff this close to departure time isn't ...
