Re: using HDA as proxy server through VPN

I assume you mean this part: Also google-ing "what is my ip" will report back that you are still on the local network. It turns out that the Amahi VPN is set to use a split VPN tunnel by default. If you want to use blocked services while behind somebody's internet filters, you can use thes...

Re: using HDA as proxy server through VPN

Just my opinion, but I use antivirus and malware tools on my client. No need for a proxy server. I have not had an issue yet in over 10 years. I just want to clarify that I don't want to use privoxy for ad filtering. I'm not going to use it to browse from my HDA while I'm at home. I want to VPN bac...

Re: using HDA as proxy server through VPN

I don't get why this hasn't already been done. Isn't using the HDA as a proxy server a really obvious and valuable function? I don't know much about servers, which is why I'm using Amahi, but it seems like it shouldn't be particularly hard for a server guru to set it up to automatically pass message...

using HDA as proxy server through VPN

I followed a combination of these two instructions to try to set up my HDA to act as a proxy server so I can use public wifi without worrying too much. http://lifehacker.com/5763170/how-to-secure-and-encrypt-your-web-browsing-on-public-networks-with-hamachi-and-privoxy https://wiki.amahi.org/index.p...

Re: Connect to Amahi VPN via Feat VPN?

I have an older unrooted android phone, so I can't use the built in vpn. FEAT VPN also worked for me. Since this thread doesn't include all the details necessary to get it running, I'm including a breakdown of what worked for me. I emailed FEAT and asked them to send me the same configuration file. ...

Re: locked out of Ampache

Thanks, that worked. Just out of curiosity...So...when I remove an app (or at least Ampache), it saves all the settings and then reuses them if I install the app again? Cuz when I click 'uninstall' it throws up a window telling me that all the data will be deleted and there's no undo for an uninstal...

locked out of Ampache

So, I figure one of the most enjoyable uses of a home server is to host music and allow me to listen to it anywhere. I installed Ampache from the app list, and changed the username/password. At some point it stopped letting me log back in. It rejected the original admin/admin combo, the new username...

adding a table of contents on the wiki

How do I get a table of contents to show up on the Amahi wiki? This is the page I'm building http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_for_dummies This one has a table of contents http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_Mail_System When I go to the "edit" view I can't find any code that inserts ...

Re: using Amahi from the internet

Thanks for getting back to me so fast :-) All this won't go to waste, I promise. I'm trying to figure out how to setup my HDA, but I'm also building this beginner guide http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_for_dummies So, if I ask a bunch of stupid questions, it's for a good cause. Process as I und...

Re: using Amahi from the internet

According to this clientless VPNs have a big security hole. http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/261869 Is this only a problem if someone targets your system, or is it a generic thing that you could stumble across accidentally? So...this? https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/openvpn-als/ If they talk about A...
