Re: Samba woes

I think you need to be careful copying stuff locally on the server if you're using Greyhole, as the GH service monitors the Samba shares for changes.

If I need to copy or move things between shares on the server I use SSH and copy them from/to the /mnt/samba folder to be safe.

Re: ping hda resolves to an address outside my network?

I've just set up OpenDNS parental control on my home network with Amahi, and it is really very simple. Amahi already uses OpenDNS forwarder's out of the box so all you need to do is configure a device on your network to update OpenDNS with your IP address if you don't have a static IP from your ISP....

Re: Constant Load

Sorry to drag up an old topic, but I'm seeing a lot of cpu usage for the monit process under Ubuntu as well. Did you ever find a solution? I disabled the 'watchdog' for all the servers in my dashboard and the cpu then sits at 1% rather than nearly 30% all the time. I might try enabling them one at a...

Amahi Ubuntu on ESXi

Just thought I'd share my new setup with everyone, as I'm now running Amahi (6.2) in a VM on ESXi - hopefully it might help someone who is considering this! I've got an HP Proliant Microserver, the N36L model with 8Gb RAM. I was previously running the Fedora version of Amahi on the server, installed...

Re: Transmission

I figured it out.... In the /etc/defaults/transmission-daemon file, there are some parameters passed on the command line when the daemon starts. These overwrite whatever is in the /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json. I changed the /etc/defaults/transmission-daemon file and all is good. When editi...

Re: Transmission

Hi, I've installed the Transmission app under Ubuntu, the daemon looks to be running ok. I'm trying to change some settings in the settings.json but my changes get overwritten every time I start the daemon up! I've tried editing (as root) /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json and /var/lib/transmiss...

Re: Package Dependencies for Amahi

Thanks, I'm up and running again now, did a default server install and it seems quite happy on my ESXi 5.0.

Package Dependencies for Amahi

Hi, I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of the Ubuntu packages which are required for Amahi to install and run on Ubuntu? I'm looking to start fresh with a Ubuntu (Server) HDA running in a VM (ESXi) and I want to keep it lean so rather than do a default install of Ubuntu I'd like to build i...

Re: VPN on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

The issue with access over 3G networks has been resolved in the 4.0.3 and later updates of Android. :D

Instructions for setting it up can be found in the Wiki here
