I have now reinstalled again and have found that I could use repositories for most of the required files. I have tested a couple of apps and everything seems ok but would like somebody else to try it out and report back.
I have also rewritten the wiki page to reflect the changes to the install.

I have now update the wiki, I still have the problem with the apps, but I now know what the problem is: with /etc/redhat.release containing 'Scientific Linux release 6.1 (Carbon)' NO APPS :( with /etc/redhat.release containing 'Fedora release 14 (Laughlin)' APPS :D :D OK, what program is hard coded ...

Thanks, everything seems right. But I am having a couple of slight problems, firstly the named server did not work. Everything does seem to work, apart from there are no apps available: "There are no applications available at this time. This could be due to a lack of network connectivity." but I think that this is because I have turned off the dhcp server, the Hda server is running on a test machine. I ...
