Re: Cannot access Lotus Notes server while Amahi server is u
First, my apologies for the delay. I am pretty busy at work so have not been here as often as I would like. I did look at this but not thoroughly. It will take me a day or two to get to it and another day or so to review. I will try to answer by this weekend-ish. I think we may want to move to IRC. ...

Re: Installing Amahi on Ubuntu 12.04. Having issues
seems your HDA has the wrong IP address?
192.168.0.1 - router
& 192.168.1.10 - HDA
These are completely different networks.

Re: Several newbie questions before moving to Amahi
There are a couple ways you would be able to access the shares from outside your network.
One would be by using a VPN client,

Re: another VM Host setup - opinions?!
well, free VMWare is limited to 4 cores. to me, that makes the decision...... Except oddly enough you can do one core, with 6 threads. I'm doing it with ESXi within Workstation. I don't get it. Might just do Proxmox then. If your still in the "trial" period, there are no restrictions

i agree about the only real votes being with the dev team but i also think it is fair to ask for a distro with a long support cycle.
Ubuntu LTS seems to be a logical choice.
