Solved! It was not Amahi but a setting in my Cisco router. The setting was under LAN setup and the dhcp lease was set to 60 minutes. I'm not sure why this had an effect while using the Amahi server since I had dhcp disabled in the router??? Anyway, I will fire up the Amahi server again now and hope ...

Update. I disabled dhcp and dns in amahi and went back to dhcp enabled in my router (cisco dpc3825). My internet connection does not drop out anymore. Ok, I've searched and searched for this answer. How do you install Amahi DLNA? All the posts say install it from the dashboard and then configure. It is not in my dashboard or the amahi.org/apps. I must be missing something. Please be kind.
