Re: EDNS errors / stopped Internet response

Carlos, My "EDNS" problem resurfaced after a couple trouble free weeks (back on my original router), so I'm going on the theory that my router has gone flaky and I ordered a new one - hopefully that will fix it. However, I did run across something else in the router's security log that I w...

Re: EDNS errors / stopped Internet response

Carlos, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I did see the earlier post and wanted to think it was harmless, but the errors seemed related to my dropped Internet connection. This has been an intermittent problem for several months, but at this point I'm not blaming Amahi. I had an usual problem with my ...

EDNS errors / stopped Internet response

Periodically my Internet connection stops on multiple machines. When I check the HDA logs I consistently see similar entries: Mar 18 20:09:53 localhost named[12570]: success resolving 'news.blogs.cnn.com/A' (in '.'?) after disabling EDNS Mar 18 20:09:52 localhost named[12570]: success resolving 'www...

PBA missing on Amahi 5?

I just did a fresh install of Fedora 12/Amahi 5 and all went well. I installed several apps without any issues, but when I went to confirm that the mapping of my PBA backups on another drive was OK, I realized that PBA was not installed and I couldn't find it on the APPS list. Just for grins I tried...

Slideshow

I have my \\hda\pictures share mapped to a different directory on a 2nd drive, but the Slideshow app seems to be looking at the /var/hda/files/pictures directory. Is there a way to point it to a different directory? I tried putting a soft link in the /var/hda/files/pictures directory, but Slideshow ...

Re: Periodic loss of DCHP

Thanks for all the feedback. My system has been running fine the past few days, so with this feedback I'll be better able to capture info and document if something happens again. cpg - to address your couple questions: 1) No, this system isn't on a UPS and it's actually under a work bench, so it's p...

Re: Periodic loss of DCHP

OK, the /var/log/messages file has some interesting entries. Let me start with with two of them: 1) The entry below seems to what started the DCHP problem. At 1:58AM there was the GLib-GObeject... warning then all entries stop at 2:01. The other entries between 1:58 and 2:01 look like the server may...

Re: Periodic loss of DCHP

cpg, Thanks for the quick feedback. The client that I usually first notice having connection problems (just because of usage) is our main home PC which is hardwired. I've tried rebooting after trying the "IP repair" with no luck. I also have the kids PC in the same room (also hardwired) an...

Periodic loss of DCHP

I've been running Amahi for about 3 months and overall have been very happy with the application. The one issue I've had is that I periodically cannot connect to the Internet from my networked machines. On my XP machines the network icon says "acquiring IP address" (but never does) and try...
