Problem solved.... Memory fault...!
I'd relied on the 'thorough' BIOS scan to PASS the memory but when I started to get other strange errors I ran MEMTEST. Two out of three of my DIMMS had errors.
Removed them and all ok...

Hi, Thanks for your response... Memory wise I've got 2Gb installed and the last time I did a scan (BIOS) it showed no errors, so hopefully it's ok. hda-install.log on the way...
re initialising mysql etc., not to my knowledge. The installation process was exactly as per the website instructions.

Installation Problem
