I have to imagine many people are trying to run their servers on small boxes with minimal hardware (at least I am).
After so many versions it's really hard to believe that DVD is the only supported method of installation.

Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
Yeah, I mean, installation is a simple process that's impossible to mess up. I just decided to not use greyhole. I'm just manually allocating shares based on how much space I know each place takes up. Disappointing, but I really don't want to manually change the ownership of the pointers every time ...

Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
Yeah, I really don't want to re install. Really a huge pain at this point.
I'd try updating greyhole, but the wiki seems to have instructions for updating in fedora only.

Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
Ensure all your folders in /var/hda/files have proper ownership. You can chmod them recursively and that should fix it. Yeah, I've done that several times - all the folders and files have the correct ownership...and the pointer is created as root:root for some reason. Just tried again for shits and...

Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
So I'm doing some transfers to my box and I think I have a better idea of the issue after watching more carefully. When the file is copied to the landing zone, it has the correct ownership. It's only once greyhole moves the file and creates the POINTER which has root root. So, copy to landing zone: ...

It doesn't matter how I copy...whether manually using windows explorer or using synctoy.

Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
I didn't see anything odd in the logs. A reinstall would be unfortunate at this point. It's almost impossible to reinstall without having to totally re-upload my backups to crashplan (it never quite works to initialize and diff my old backup files) each time. I just re-started this after switching f...

Re: miniDLNA (null) error
This is puzzling. So I presume that /var/hda/files/drives is owned by firstadminuser:users as well. If it is not, it should be. This sounds like one of those hard to track down issues. Have you considered uninstalling DLNA app, cleaning up any left behind files, and reinstalling? Maybe there was so...
