Watch your trash!

I have 7TB in my greyhole share drives, and was running out of space. I couldn't work out how since my shares add up to less than 1TB in total. Turns out I had 6+ TB in the greyhole trash! I didn't realise you need to clear it manually, although it's in the wiki. So if you're running out of space, t...

Manual plex update after upgrading to current Amahi release

Hi, just thought I'd drop a note about a manual plex update. I did an upgrade to Amahi 9 yesterday (didn't do the fresh install despite the warnings!). It went fine (surprisingly so in fact, very smooth update). The one problem was that my local plex install (which I maintain as it allows me to inst...

Re: help troubleshooting an intermittent network problem

OK I will wait for the beta at least before I upgrade. I don't think it is ISP related, as nothing else drops out if I switch to the router DHCP - seems it is the amahi box only. I havent changed the network card (or any other hardware) in the server box for a long time, but this gives me something ...

Re: help troubleshooting an intermittent network problem

I'm thinking of installing the Amahi 8 alpha as an alternative to fixing this. How stable is it at the moment? As long as it runs plex and the squeezebox server I'll be happy.

Re: help troubleshooting an intermittent network problem

hmm. Still having troubles, have turned off the Amahi DHCP until I can get it sorted to maintain internet connectivity. I updated the firmware for router, bios and one of the hard drives in the Amahi box (it's installed on an SSD which needed an update apparently). The amahi box still drops out ever...

Re: help troubleshooting an intermittent network problem

Thanks for the reply Bigfoot. Yes everything is up to date, and no changes to my router or ISP. Since the problem always vanishes when I reboot the Amahi box I figured it must be something in the box itself. I will see if there is a firmware update for my router in case that's the prob.

help troubleshooting an intermittent network problem

Hi, I've got a problem with my Amahi box that I am having trouble identifying. The symptom is that every so often (say every few days, sometimes a bit longer) the internet stops working for my connected machines. I use the Amahi DNS and DHCP server, and I think that the problem is somewhere in that ...

Best practice for backups and greyhole

I'm thinking of reconfiguring my server to make better use of my available drive space, and am wondering how other people are using Greyhole, particularly whether you have included an external drive in your storage pool. My HDA looks like this: In the box: 2 x 2TB storage drives - in a Greyhole stor...

Access apps over web via https

Just a note to let people know that I've updated the Secure Web Access https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Secure_App_Access wiki article to match steps I took to make apps use https for Amahi 7. The original advice did not work properly for me. I borrowed liberally from http://www.server-world.info/en...

Re: yum update all... oops

I'd say so. I have a mix of systemd and init.d scripts... the init ones are probably messing the startup routine. I should really go through and fix them all up at some point! Thanks for helping me debug bigfoot :).
