Re: Transferring Data
Move the location of your shares to one of your bigger drives using the Dashboard. This location acts as a "landing strip" for the files, before they are moved to your nominated storage drives using Greyhole. The bigger the partition you use for this, the more you can transfer in one go. B...

Re: trying to install "apps"
Did you install Fedora 12 or 14? If F14 you won't get any apps quite yet.
Greyhole is installed along with Amahi, but you need to enable the advanced options in Amahi and configure it as detailed here:

Re: Amahi Energy Saver
What should happen is that the Amahi box goes to sleep some time after all clients are shutdown, no more file access, etc. Clarification question: So what you request is a button to shut down the Amahi box immediately? Problem with logging in and fireing pm-suspend is that AES has no contol over th...

Re: Amahi Energy Saver
I'd played around with it before Xmas, but as it kept powering off within a minute or two - not long enough for me to figure out what changes to make via a remote session- I had to scrub it. The additions to the program and to the wiki make it a lot easier for a newbie to understand and install. As ...

Re: Amahi Energy Saver
Hi Jayrock, Sterling work on this. Quick question - does (or can) AES keep the Amahi box running if it detects a client also awake, but not necessarily transferring data? For instance, I'd like the Amahi box to be on when my Windows box is on. I think you are working on automatically sending a WOL c...

Re: Planning HTPC and Amahi... Critics please comment.. :)
I would *imagine* the AMD boards would be comparatively priced with current Atom/Ion boards, depending on the spec. This is what they are directly competing against. I'm a newbie to Linux but I found F14, on casual inspection, to be far more polished than F12. F12 is now end-of-life so I would compa...

Why not wait a little while and then get one of the new Zacate-based mothereboards? See http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2011/01/04/amd-zacate-mini-itx-motherboards-preview/ The ASUS one for example has 5 SATA ports (plus 1xe-sata!) so no add-in card needed. You could pop a TV tuner in ...

Re: Clean install partitioning
So.... is the take-away that if I do not partition the first drive fully during the install process I cannot use the unpartitioned space later? It sounds like what you guys both did was create an extra partition during the install, utilizing the full first drive with 3 partitions in total ("/&...
