Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

I tend to stay away from the VIRTIO disk type. I use mostly IDE and SATA for mine. I also have my virtual HDA linked to use 2 physical drives for Greyhole. Works well. I can switch between F14 and Ubuntu HDAs. I shut down one and bring up the other. Run Greyhole to catch up on the file changes. I h...

Re: Amahi Netboot: Beta Testers Needed!

You have been added. Please let us know how it works. The current netboot apps will not work with it by default. You will have to manually add your own. Once this app is finalized, we can work it into the netboot apps. Will do once I get home tonight. And anything is an improvement, since I couldn'...

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

My HDA is up and running. Had one glitch where it couldn't reach the network though. Not sure what caused that. I do know, I cannot use a VIRTIO disk as the HDD on my Windows Server 2003 R2 machine, cannot get it to boot once I install the VIRTIO drivers :(

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

Yea, I am running Proxmox on an AMD 8-core with 16GB RAM. My HDA is virtualized now :)
I'd be happy if I got another Core i5 3570k (quad core) and 16GB of RAM for my virtualization server. Same basic setup as I have in my desktop and it would fly for Amahi & PIAF.

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

Ah. Have you tried the latest version? It was just updated recently. Thats what I just downloaded. Installing now. Still uses the same version of the KVM drivers though. Someday soon I need to build a "new" home server with a faster processor than the little AMD Turion II Neo in my HP Mic...

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

Problem with Proxmox is that install drivers for Windows is rather hard. And I need one machine setup running Server 2003R2+ for WSUS.

Ubuntu 12.04 as VM Host?

In the past I have tried to run KVM on my Ubuntu 12.04 HDA so I can run a single VM under it. However it didn't work so well as "/etc/networks" got overwritten. Is this still the case or am I able to setup my Ubuntu HDA install as a KVM host now?

Re: Amahi Ubuntu no admin page after install

Awesome. Sometimes ya have to follow the docs LOL It still works once updates are done, but the initial install needs the base distro, much like Fedora. Now I just have to figure out why it didn't reboot when I tried to today. But I can't do that until I get home and connect to the Remote Access Ca...

Re: Amahi Ubuntu no admin page after install

Worked installing it w/o installing updates first.
