Re: Server Failer. Greyhole data recovery
Workdawg is right, you can just plug your hard drives into a computer that will understand the file system it is using, and read the files off of it. Greyhole makes full copies of files on the different hard drives in the storage pool.

I like the first and the third options the most.

Re: Improvement to hda-diskmount for GPT drives
No problem. 1) Open /usr/sbin/hda-diskmount in nano, gedit, vi whatever floats your boat. I prefer nano, e.g. "nano /usr/sbin/hda-diskmount". 2) Find the line "# Now for the real work". It's at line 54 for me. I presume everyone has the same version of this file. 3) Goto the last...

Improvement to hda-diskmount for GPT drives
I'm running Fedora 14 and just waiting patiently for Amahi to be released. Now that that is out of the way.. I added some drives to my server with the partition table as GPT and ext4 file systems. hda-diskmount couldn't find them. In the "drivesext=" line, I changed grep -i 'Linux' to egre...

Re: First HDD filling up even with pool
If the landing zone for a share is changed to a drive that is part of the storage pool, when Greyhole distributes the file will it just make a symlink on that drive instead of physically moving the file to a different directory on that drive?

Cannot access shares using Greyhole 0.8
Hi Guillaume, Is there someplace where discussions about 0.8 are occurring? I can go there in the future. I installed 0.8 and now I am unable to access my shares. I can see them from my Windows computer but cannot open them. I verified and both smb and Greyhole are both running. I don't know what to...

Re: Transfer from landing to Pool Insanely slow
WHS V1 did this in a power pack, Power Pack 2 maybe? When transferring files, instead of sending them to the landing zone, the files got sent directly to their destination. From there they were duplicated if requested. I too would be interested in seeing if we can get the same functionality with Gre...

Re: Transfer from landing to Pool Insanely slow
As another data point, I just transferred 5GB to Amahi. It was to one share and is set to create 1 copy of the files. Windows said it was transferring at about 25MB/s. I checked about 20 minutes later and the transfer had completed. I then checked Greyhole and it was still shuffling files around. Ch...

What does a normal entry in the GH log file look like?
I copied a file to my share and at quick inspection it looks to me like GH is saving tombstones 3 times. Is this what a normal entry in the log file looks like? Dec 7 20:10:48 7 parse_logs: Parsing Samba logs... Dec 7 20:10:48 7 parse_logs: Done parsing. Dec 7 20:10:48 7 simplify_tasks: Simplifying ...
