Re: Access to files

I am on the HDA though boot from a recovery CD. I entered your suggested commands but get "No such file or directory". I don't know enough to say if I am using SSH.

Re: Access to files

Thanks for this info. It appears that I must not be at the right place. "ls var" says locked and there is no "home" directory. I guess I am going to need a UNIX person to solve this one. I am sure your info will be useful to them. Thanks again.

Access to files

My server will not boot due to bad hard drive (I think). I have been able to boot from a recovery CD. Now I'd like to see if I can get my data files from the hard drive. I was using HDA from my laptop to save files directly.

How can I find my files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Security warnings

Finally I have my VPN working (though it doesn't show up in my dashboard). I am now wondering about the warning about "no server certificate implemented" and "this configuration may cache password".

What should I do about these warnings?

VPN and Bell Canada

Has anyone had success using VPN with ISP Bell Canada? It is listed under bad ISPs but I wondering if anyone has discovered a work around. I desparately need to provide access to the HDA from outside the office. It's the main reason for getting the HDA in the first place.

Re: Port Forwarding

I am back and trying to still to get this working.

I do have port forwarding set correctly.

I noticed firewall settings on my router. There is a section called VPN passthrough. All boxes are checked - must be the default because I don't know anything about them. Is this correct?

Re: Port Forwarding

I have setup my router and still have no joy.

My ISP is Bell Canada. Their rep called me to today so I asked about access to a server in the office from home. He said that I need to get a static IP address.

When I do this, what do I need to change in openVPN?

Re: Port Forwarding

I don't see VPN as an option for the application name. Perhaps this is the problem? But if you have the same router, I am again puzzled.

Port Forwarding

I am still unable to connect using VPN. I looked at my router (D-Link WBR 2310) and noticed that for the port mapping there is a drop down box for applications. Choices are: FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, POP3, Telenet, IPSec, PPTP, Netmeeting, DCS-1000, DCS-2000/DCS-5300, i2eye. Perhaps this is why V...
