USB drive automounts, then disconnects and have to restart

I'm connecting my external usb drive to the Fedora box and I can see the drive in the 'Places' menu. However, after a few minutes, the drive is automatically disconnected and it will not reconnect unless I restart. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in and even cycling power on the drive. Do I just copy and paste into /var/hda/files/music for all the music files? Or do I copy into the actual disc directory on my second hard drive? Is there a transfer tool l...
