Re: Permissions for /var/hda/files
I will add it to the wikki. I've also amended it so it is faster by testing the file perms and only changing those files that need changing. As for the why 666 as there are no files that require the execute perms in the files/hda directory I just don't bother to set it. 666 -rw-rw-rw- 1 jiml jiml 0...

sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces
Changed, wlan0 to eth0. Reboot. Seems to be working.

Re: how to reset eth0
I tried the above steps, as much as I could find the files in Ubuntu 12.04, but it's still not working. My problem was a little different--I did the install over wifi, but want Amahi to run on eth0. Eth0 is not getting a random IP address and wlan0 is getting the 192.168.1.10 address. I also tried r...

Re: Changing Amahi's DNS
I found a better install guide, but it gives different options depending how DNS is setup. http://www.ab9il.net/crypto/dnscrypt.html Could I get confirmations/answers for the questions below? 1. There are two different sets of instructions, depending on whether there is a local caching server. Would...

Re: Changing Amahi's DNS
Has anyone tried OpenDNS's "DNS Crypt" with Amahi? A search didn't bring up any mentions on the forum and I don't want to break my new Ubuntu install. Info here with link to outdated files http://blog.opendns.com/2012/02/16/tales-from-the-dnscrypt-linux-rising/ And latest package with info...

Re: Fedora transition - voice your opinion!
I have minimal Linux skills, so I'm just giving my opinion as an amateur user. I think there is a lot of momentum behind Ubuntu. I played with the beta install using Ubuntu server and I liked having the minimal install option. I hope that whichever way it goes, there remains a non-desktop install op...

Re: Several newbie questions before moving to Amahi
Have you thought about setting up a virtual machine instance of Amahi and playing around with it before you commit to the change? I had Squeezebox server running on my previous install (between installs now waiting for the Ubuntu version release), but I had to manually install it. I also had another...

Re: Mount NAS for Greyhole pool?
Thank you for saving me hours of frustration and discouragement. I'll see if I can figure it out with rsync then.

Mount NAS for Greyhole pool?
I've done some research and think I know what I want to do, but I don't want to bork my system, since everything is running properly. I'm trying to cobble this together with various pieces. This is slightly off the main topic, but it should be a simple answer. I successfully added a second drive yes...
