Re: Amahi and Sophos XG Firewall Home Edition

I have a similar setup except I use Untangle instead of Sophos. I have the Untangle box connected to the modem and the Amahi box (and all other clients) connected via switch and wireless access point behind the Untangle box. You will need to have two NICs (or a dual) in your Sophos box. One for the ...

Re: CrashPlan for Home going away

I too have switched over to idrive. It's command line only on linux but seems to work pretty well. I'm using it to backup the HDA, Windows clients and a Mac.

Re: Has anyone purchased a Norton Core Router

I would agree. Send it back. I use Untangle for Home as my router solution. It and Amahi coexist well. I like the control, flexibility, and security it provides for my network and devices.

Re: install

Don't give up! Your command syntax is wrong. Instead of

sudo su-

It should be

sudo su -

You need a space between su and -

That's why you're getting command not found.

Re: Ideal hardware setup for Amahi

One thing you might consider rather than on-the-fly transcoding is off-line transcoding using something like Handbrake on one of your more powerful machines. That way you could have a less powerful (i.e. power hungry) server that simply direct streams in whatever format you need. For example, I have...

Re: suggestions re backing up laptops to HDA

Since you're running Win 10 on your clients another really simple option for file backup is File History. You could define a share on the hda and use that as your File History destination.

Re: suggestions re backing up laptops to HDA

You might look at Crashplan. That's what I've been using for a few years now. I back up client PCs to the server then backup the server shares to Crashplan Central, their subscription-based online service. Works well for me.

Re: Crashplan and Dropbox on Amahi 9?

I've been able to get it working based on the guidance from the Crashplan website. It involves using putty to establish the client-hda connection and modifying some configuration files when you access the Crashplan engine on the hda. You also must have Crashplan running on the client. This is all de...

Upgrade Report: Amahi 8 to 9

Just wanted to take a moment to report on a successful upgrade from Amahi 8 to Amahi 9. I had been watching certain apps waiting for them to be available so this week I decided to take the plunge. My server is a headless HP N36L Microserver with 4G RAM, 1 160GB disk for the OS, and 3 1TB disks in a ...

Re: fiverr clone installer

Apparently Firefox browser. Replaced the router this week and hadn't gotten the dns straightened out among clients yet. Some of my clients use the hda for dns others (kids) use OpenDNS directly. The router was using the IP's dns servers. Flushed everything and got it straightened out now. Running sc...
