That continued and completed my install. Do I need to reinstall or otherwise finish, or am I good to go?

I'm pretty new too, but you set the Amahi box config and static IP when you build the config here on the website.

I have the identical issue, on three reinstalls. I did not try the 'gem list' but went through the other steps with the folks on IRC. Each time the amahi-installer showed that the 'stopping' [failed], the 'starting' was [OK] but 'status' was always 'dead but subsystem locked' I was able to get it up...
