Re: Fedora transition - voice your opinion!
As long as it works, I don't really care what it runs on. Fedora has been fine with me, but from the outside, it sure looks like a lot of effort is expended just keeping up with it. From cpg's comments, it doesn't look like Centos is a lot better. I use Debian on my desktops, so if I were to express...

Re: replacing failing main drive
By all means let us know how it worked out. All the "well, in theory" is good, but real-world experience beats that hands down.

Re: replacing failing main drive
I just cloned a 250G drive using dd last week. It took about 90 minutes on an older P4 machine. Read up on Clonezilla - if you don't find a satisfactory solution, this is what I would do: Download your choice of a live linux distro that can be installed to a flash drive and boot to the flash drive, ...

Re: replacing failing main drive
thanks, now I need to find out wether I can cnonnect a third drive to my system. I believe my server only has 2 sata connections. So I probably gonna have to connect it through USB. keep ya posted Why not comment out your data drive in fstab, and unplug it? It isn't strictly necessary, but I don't ...

4) Work with Highpoint Raid Cards (they have drivers for Linux OS but not sure on how it would be installed) My drives are in an external case, connected to a Highpoint card with Infiniband Cables. In most cases, you are going to have to build your driver against the current kernel, they do not mai...

Re: Alpha 2 of Amahi on Fedora 16
I have a test box up and running. The Fedora DVD has always kicked my butt when it comes to dl'ing a clean copy and getting a good burn - the F16 version was no different, so I resorted to trying the netinstall version. I was a bit concerned since it will will generally install newer versions of som...

Re: What The #%&$, I need Seriuos help
It doesn't sound like you are that far off. Once you have it up and running you'll probably be amazed at how easy it was once you knew what to fix. I really think half the battle is just knowing what to ask about. Just take the problems one at a time. The HDA really has nothing to do with your being...

Re: Amahi and Fedora 14
Is FreeNAS hiring trolls? I don't see implementing btrfs to be something that Amahi should be doing. I would much rather see the underlying OS handle that. In the meantime, I'll keep myself occupied by finding year-old threads to revive.

Re: Can't access shares from Ubuntu machine
I booted to a Ubuntu CD, clicked "Connect to Places" and entered smb://hda. In the box asking for my Username/Domain/PW, I entered a username, WORKGROUP for the Domain/Workgroup, and my password. At that point I can enter any of the shares. I use Debian/KDE/Dolphin on my desktop machine, a...
