Confirm DNS and DHCP.
I just rebuilt my HDA, reinstalled from scratch. I just set up static routes for every device on my network...I'm suspicious neither DHCP or DNS are working. My router is pointing to my HDA for it's dns, but my hda's address isn't working. I can go to it by IP, but the actual "transmission.sr66...

Re: Migrating to New OS?
Gnome didn't like that at all. I do use this system as a desktop...prolly outdated bootloader.

Re: Migrating to New OS?
At this point, I'm basically just screwing around. Here's what I'm gonna try (knowing this is an extreme long shot)
Leave /boot and /dev from the fresh isntall.
Restore everythign else from the old drive.
edit /etc/fstab to combine the new and old drive mounting.
Hold Onto My Butt.

Re: Migrating to New OS?
Really the whole thing. My old system's /home/ data was actually on a FreeNAS box nfs mounted with /etc/fstab, so it's mostly configuration stuff in the /var/hda folder I think.

Re: Migrating to New OS?
I have a fresh Fedora 14 install, with the Amahi Repo. Is it as simple as just copying everything but boot over? Not sure how to proceed :/

Migrating to New OS?
So...lemme start with the open statement that I tried to do something idiotic...migrate an LVM system to a RAID system without rebooting. Saw an Arch Linux guide to do it, thought I could handle it, was way over my head. Fortunately...I have the whole hard drive backed up onto another Hard Drive. My...

Re: 2 NIC's, One to a NAS, one to a network?
I got it working. Few things I did to make it work: Make sure you use a crossover cable for a direct connection, not a patch cable. Just to make sure it was clear I knew that. I went into System -> Administration -> Network Device Control. Then, I hit configure, selected the eth1 interface, and hit ...

2 NIC's, One to a NAS, one to a network?
Hey, I've been using desktop linux since 2006 but am only starting to get more advanced. I bought a used blade server and am running Fedora 14 and Amahi 6, and it's working great. Amahi acts as my DHCP and my DNS server. (all known devices have static IP's btw) The goal is to have a second machine r...

Re: Did something update last night?
Well crap. I think the hardware works since the livecd works, any ideas on maybe backing this up so I can move to new hardware?

Did something update last night?
So, I turn on my laptop's wifi this morning and can't get on the wifi. The amahi server has hung. I go to boot it, I get a "init[1]: segfault at bla bla bla" then "Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!" and it sticks. This has happened over and over. I can boot with...
