SOLVED:amahi-installer dead but subsys locked - f12 amahi5.3

Hi guys,
I have just done a fresh install on my server, but for some reason my amahi-installer service wont start. it says 'amahi-installer dead but subsys locked'.

any way to resolve this issue? or would it be less of a head ache to just reinstall fedora, and would that fix this issue?
I have tried to troubleshoot this issue for about an hour, did what was on the wiki and tried some of the info on the forum but nothing is working.

any help would be much appreciated.

This is a new error. We have not seen this before.

Can you see what this says:

gem list

and, you can try

rm /var/lock/subsys/amahi-installer service amahi-installer restart

I have the identical issue, on three reinstalls.

I did not try the 'gem list' but went through the other steps with the folks on IRC. Each time the amahi-installer showed that the 'stopping' [failed], the 'starting' was [OK] but 'status' was always 'dead but subsystem locked'

I was able to get it up and running with the Amahi 5.3 express 2.5b for i386, but I need the desktop too.

I do also see an error with cheetah and cherrypy, but that was marked as minor.

The box is a Dell GX-270 with a P4, 2.4 HT and 1 gig of ram.

This looks like a bug in the ruby libraries. Serious issue.

The workaround is to run this, as root, from a command line:

hda-new-install YOURINSTALLCODE
