Hi. I'm transitioning from Windows Home Server  to Amahi :D . Everything is working well inside my network. All HDA shares are accessible.

My question is what I need to do to make the shares available over the Internet. In Windows Home Server, I could access my shares with any browser. I just had to give the proper password. Can I do the same in Amahi, or am I required to install the VPN software on the client side?

I have DHCP turned off on my HDA. DHCP is being handled by my router. When going through the setup, I said to give HDA an IP of 192.168.0.11. When I look at my IP table on my router, the HDA is getting 192.168.0.123. When I look at the settings in Fedora for eth0, it is assigned 192.168.0.11. What is happening behind the scenes? Is 192.168.0.11 something that is used for VPN? Which port would I forward to from the outside 192.168.0.11 or 192.168.0.123.

Per the wiki, I did forward UDP port 1194. I'm not at my Amahi box right now, I can't remember which IP addresses I forwarded to. Either way, I'm not sure which is the correct one.

Thanks,
Greg

I ran the Windows VPN client and it shows it is connected (green "A" in the taskbar). I tried my url nickname.yourhda.com and it doesn't connect. I tried once with HDA DHCP on and once with HDA DHCP off.

My Network is setup as:
Network: 192.168.0.*
HDA IP Address: 192.168.0.11
Network Gateway: 192.168.0.1

I'm forwarding public UDP port 1194 to private UDP port 1194.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg

I'm a noob, and have the same question. I noticed you posted on 2/8 have you figured it out yet? I've just installed yesterday so I haven't had time to tinker with it myself. I've noticed documentation for Amahi is a bit thin....it would be helpful for new users to beef up the wiki, etc...

Once you have HDA Connect working, enter http://hda like you would on your network. You should be able to access everything as if you were in your local network.

The yourname.yourhda.com is not used once the VPN is connected. You can also access your shares by entering \\hda in the run box for Windows Clients.

That would make sense...wasn't thinking. I'll try and remember that for when I attempt it later today. Thank you for the reply.
